Why Apostille Your Marriage Certificate With Me?

How It Works
- Get the certified copy. The certificate you got at the wedding isn’t the one you need. The county recorder where your license was issued mails you one certified copy after the signed license comes back, and you can order more from the same office. Or order from the Idaho Bureau of Vital Records ($16 a copy, 3–5 weeks by mail, faster online through VitalChek). Order two. The copy that gets apostilled doesn’t come back. Here’s why.
- Tell me the country. The Secretary of State asks for it on the request form, and it changes what they attach. Some countries also want a certified translation — I do those too.
- I pick it up, or you mail it. Treasure Valley pickup is free. I review the copy before it goes anywhere so nothing gets bounced.

Where Can I Get My Marriage Certificate Apostilled Near Me?
Short answer: nowhere near you, unless you live near 4th Street in downtown Boise. The county recorder that issued your license can’t do it. Neither can the post office, your bank, or city hall. For an Idaho marriage certificate, the only place is the Idaho Secretary of State’s Notary Department, by appointment, and they hand it back by first-class mail.
That’s the gap I fill. I come to you in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Eagle, Caldwell, Kuna, Star, and the rest of the Treasure Valley, pick up the certified copy, carry it in, and bring the apostille back. If you’re out of the area, you mail it to me and I do the same thing.
Married in another state?
Idaho can only apostille Idaho documents. If you were married in Oregon, Nevada, Utah, California, or anywhere else, the apostille has to come from that state’s office. I handle that too — same pickup, same review, same return — it just takes longer because it travels.
Getting married overseas instead?
Then you probably don’t need a marriage certificate apostilled — you need proof that you’re single. Idaho Vital Records issues a records-search letter that some countries call a Certificate of Non-Impediment or a Single Status Letter. That letter gets apostilled the same way. No. A marriage certificate is a public record, and the Secretary of State won’t apostille a notarized photocopy of one. They need the certified copy. Here’s what a notary can and can’t certify in Idaho.
