Someone you love is in a hospital bed, and a document needs a signature before anything else can happen. A power of attorney. An advance directive. A title, or a closing packet that can’t wait. They can’t come to a notary, so I come to them.

I go to hospital rooms, rehab and assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and hospice. A bedside appointment is a routine booking for me, not a special request.

How fast can a notary get to the hospital?

When I have an open slot, I’m usually at the bedside 20 to 30 minutes after you call.

Not long ago a woman called me about her uncle at St. Luke’s downtown. He was at the end of life, and his trust documents had to be signed while he still could. I was at his bedside in 30 to 40 minutes, and we got it done.

Two things slow me down. The first is traffic — between 3:30 and 6pm, a drive across the valley runs longer, and I’ll tell you that when you book. The second is paperwork that isn’t ready. If the document isn’t finished, we wait until it is.

Where I go

Every major hospital in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa. Rehab centers, assisted living, nursing homes, hospice, and private homes across Ada and Canyon County.

I check in at the front desk, work around visiting hours and the care team’s schedule, and do the signing in the room the signer is actually in.

Two things have to be true at any bedside signing

These are true no matter who notarizes.

The signer has to be able to communicate with me and sign. They need to understand what they’re signing and tell me so. If they can’t, I can’t notarize it, no matter who’s asking.

The signer needs acceptable ID. A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID — driver’s license, state ID, passport, or similar.

I also can’t tell you which document you need or what it should say. A notary isn’t allowed to advise on document content, so bring the document your attorney, title company, or agency gave you.

Trip anywhere in Ada or Canyon County: $95

Each notarization: $5, the most Idaho law allows

Witnesses, if I bring them: $60 each

Outside Ada and Canyon County: quoted before I book

Not included: drafting or reviewing the document. That’s your attorney’s job, not mine. Apostille and translation are priced on their own.

What to have ready before I get there

The signer’s ID. Valid, unexpired, government-issued, with a photo.
The document, filled out but not signed. The signing happens in front of me.
Witnesses, if the document calls for them. Or I bring them, $60 each.
A heads-up on the room. Floor, room number, and any visiting-hour limits the facility has.

Questions about hospital signings

Can a notary come to a hospital room?

Yes. That’s a regular part of my work. I check in at the front desk, verify the signer’s ID at the bedside, and notarize right there in the room.

What does a hospital notary cost?

A $95 trip anywhere in Ada or Canyon County, plus $5 per notarization. Witnesses are $60 each if you need me to bring them. Outside those two counties, I quote it before I book.

What if it’s after hours?

I take appointments Monday through Friday from 8am to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to noon. After-hours appointments happen by arrangement, not on demand. Call or text and I’ll tell you what I can do.

What if nobody can travel?

Idaho allows remote online notarization, so a signer who can use a phone or computer may not need anyone at the bedside at all.

Can you bring witnesses?

Yes. If the document needs witnesses and you’re short, I can bring them for $60 each.

Can you tell us what document we need?

No. A notary isn’t allowed to advise on document content. Your attorney, title company, or the agency asking for it can tell you.
