What mobile fingerprinting actually is

Fingerprinting used to mean driving somewhere, waiting, and hoping you brought the right paperwork. Mobile fingerprinting flips that. I come to you with the scanner, capture your prints on the spot, and send them where they need to go.

I use a Live Scan system, so your prints are captured electronically. No ink, nothing to smudge. If the agency you’re dealing with wants prints on a physical FD-258 card instead, the same machine prints the card right there.

It’s the same set of prints either way. The only thing that changes is where you have to be when it happens.

The state office, or your kitchen table

The state runs a walk-in fingerprinting window, and plenty of people use it. It’s the cheapest option, and if you work regular hours and live close to it, it may be all you need.

Here’s what it costs you that the price doesn’t show: it’s open weekday business hours, it’s first-come, and the line is longest right when it opens. You take time off work, you drive there, you wait, and if your form is the wrong version you do it again another day.

I come to your house, your office, a hospital room, or a job site. Evenings and Saturdays included. It takes twenty to thirty minutes and you don’t leave.

If you live close to it, your schedule is flexible, and cost is the thing that matters most, the state window is a fine answer. If your time is worth more than the trip, call me.

I capture your prints. Live Scan, no ink. It takes a few minutes.
I send them where they go. Electronically for an FBI check, or printed on an FD-258 card for agencies that require the card.

IMPORTANT: How do I prepare for my fingerprinting appointment?

I recommend staying hydrated so your skin produces clearer prints, and avoiding lotions or oils before your appointment. Lotions and oils can smudge prints, making them harder to read. Also, have any necessary documentation or fingerprint cards ready beforehand if you are bringing your own.

What IDs are required?

You typically need to present a current, government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, state ID card, or military ID. If you are unsure which ID will be accepted for your specific requirement, contact me ahead of time and I'll check.

How quickly will I get results for the FBI Background Check?

Electronic submissions can often yield results within 24 to 72 hours. Mailed or physical card submissions may take longer, typically 4+ weeks. I recommend electronic submission.

Are there any extra fees for traveling outside a certain area?

My base fee covers Ada and Canyon Counties. If you are located beyond that radius, additional mileage charges may apply. Send me your address or ZIP code and I'll tell you before you book if there's an extra fee.

Do I need to bring my own FD-258 fingerprint cards?

You are welcome to bring your own FD-258 cards, or I can provide them for an additional fee. Just let me know ahead of time so I bring enough.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I take cash, major credit or debit cards, and business checks. If you'd rather pay another way, tell me ahead of time. Call me at (208) 826-1210.

Yes. I schedule group appointments for volunteer groups, churches, and sports teams. Special fees and group discounts may apply, depending on the number of participants and your location. Please call us at (208) 826-1210 and we'll pick a time and place that works for everyone.

Do I have to go anywhere, or do you really come to me?

I come to you. Home, office, hospital room, care facility, job site — anywhere in Ada or Canyon County. You don't go anywhere and you don't wait in a line.
