California CNA Fingerprinting in Idaho

You’re already a CNA here in Idaho. Now you want to work in California, and the California Department of Public Health needs your fingerprints before it will certify you there.

You work shifts, and you shouldn’t have to burn a day off driving around for fingerprints. I come to you, capture your prints on my own Live Scan system, and send them electronically to our California partner company, who processes and submits them to the California DOJ.

What CDPH says about applicants outside California

CDPH’s reciprocity form asks for a Live Scan completed in California. For applicants living out of state, it offers ink fingerprint cards instead. That’s the slow road most out-of-state aides end up on.

What I offer is a different route. The capture happens here, on my Live Scan system, and our California partner company submits it in California. CDPH doesn’t list this option, and I’m not claiming the department endorses it.

Where your prints are taken

I capture your fingerprints here in Idaho, and our partner company processes and submits your fingerprints to the California DOJ. The DOJ and FBI send the results to CDPH. I never see them.

So your prints are taken in Idaho, not in California. I don’t submit anything to the DOJ myself; our California partner company does that from California. But the capture still happens here. If CDPH tells you your prints have to be taken inside California, this isn’t the right option for you, and I’d rather you find that out before you pay me. Ask CDPH first.

How it works

Book it by call, text, or online, whenever it fits around your shifts.
I show up, check your ID, and enter your details from your CDPH form.
I capture your prints and review each one on screen while I’m still there.
Our California partner company submits them to the California DOJ. Results go to CDPH, not to you or me.

What to have ready

A valid, unexpired government photo ID
The Request for Live Scan Service form for CNA or HHA certification, filled out with CDPH’s details. CDPH publishes a sample so you can see what goes where.
Your Social Security number. CDPH requires it on the form.

Cost

$349 covers one person: I drive to you, capture your prints, handle the data entry and submission, and pay government fees up to $75.

Bring a coworker who’s making the same move and you’ll both pay $299 each. That price applies to everyone at the stop, not just the second person. If your agency’s fees go over $75, you pay only the difference, and I’ll confirm that before anything is submitted.

CNA questions

Do I have to go to California to get fingerprinted for my CNA?

Not for the capture. I do that here in Idaho, and our California partner company handles the submission in California.

Will CDPH accept this?

CDPH decides that. Its forms describe ink fingerprint cards for people living out of state. Our partner company has had results go through to CDPH for Idaho applicants, but that’s past experience, not a promise.

Is it the same for Home Health Aides?

Yes. CDPH runs HHA certification through the same fingerprint process. Bring the form for your certification type.

How long does it take?

Most results from the California DOJ come back in under five business days, and a few can take up to 10. That count starts when your prints are submitted. CDPH’s review of your application is separate.

What if my prints come back rejected?

If the capture was my fault, like a smudge or a finger that slipped, I redo it at no charge. I check every print before I leave so that’s rare. If the problem is ridge quality, which is common with years of hand washing, age, or dry skin, I’ll do everything I can at the appointment. I just can’t guarantee the state accepts prints when the ridges aren’t there to read.

Where do my results go?

To CDPH. You won’t get a copy from me, because I never see them.
